A rotary-type damper utilizing oil viscosity resistance or hydraulic resistance provides a soft opening/closing action of doors and lids and creates a touch of quality for furniture, automotive interiors, and equipment.

If the rotating shaft and the damper's axis are directly connected, the approximate torque can be calculated based on the following equation if the lid size and the weight are known.

Torque T= M × 9.8 × L2 (N・m)

M: Weight of the lid (kg), L: Dimensions of the lid (m), (L2 is assumed as the lid gravity center position)
